In order to ensure the global dimension of the DivAirCity City-to-City Twinning Programme, dedicated mechanisms were put in place by the Consortium to ensure the engagement of cities across all continents, also in areas where the Consortium had limited experiences.
As a first step, partnerships with cities across the globe existing among the Consortium partner were mapped, resulting in over 50 cities in all the continents. For some continents, limited connections emerged, such as Africa and Latin America. In this case, dedicated partners engaged with the region, and in particular UPV for Latin America and inAfrika for Africa. Their activities included reaching out to selected cities and organise dedicated events, such as the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress 2023 (SRI2023) Africa satellite event innovation demonstration to engage with African cities.
