Orvieto Exchange with its Twin Cities

At the end of March 2025, representatives from Manchester (UK), Uwvie (Nigeria), Stintino (Italy) and Brasov (Romania) had the chance to visit Orvieto as part of the City-to-City activities.

Throughout two days, Twin Cities and members from the Orvieto local ecosystem had the chance to visit the intervention site in Orvieto, take part to the inauguration of the new park, have roundtable discussion, participate in co-creation activities and meet local civil society.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Presentation of the DivAirCity project and of the project’s activities
  • Participation in two co-creation activities: a sharing wall with children from the elementary school inside the park and a wheeled walk with people with disabilities in the tunnel next to the park
  • Participation in a co-implementation activity, painting the road connecting the tunnel to the park together with people with disabilities
  • Roundtable discussions on participatory approaches in the Twin Cities
  • Participation to the inauguration of the park (together with local stakeholders, citizens, and the mayor) and to the shooting of the RTBF documentary

MAIN LESSONS LEARNT

  • In-person visits benefit from a mix of roundtable discussions and practical activities
  • Linguistic, cultural, and knowledge barriers between Twin Cities and citizens can be overcome when there’s a genuine interest in learning from each other
  • Visiting the intervention site before and after the works contribute to a real understanding of the impact of the project
