Nine projects have been selected for the Twinning Programme’s Project to Project initiative. The projects have been selected based on their focus and interest in mutually learning from DivAirCity and the other applicants.
The projects have been organized into three Working Groups (WG) based on their thematic focus:
- Inclusive Co-Creation and Citizens’ Engagement
- Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Climate-Neutral Cities
- Innovative Business Models and Addressing Data Gaps and Biases
The selected projects are:
- Green Wall
- A Light for the Mirador
- City-centered approach to catalyze nature-based solutions through the EU Regenerative Urban Lighthouse for pollution alleviation and regenerative development (UPSURGE)
-
Co-creating people-centric sustainable neighbourhoods through urban regeneration (WeGenerate)
- Water Treatment for Solar Power Plants in New Cities
- Enhancing the relevance of vocational training for roofers with the latest industry standards (ROTES)
-
Re-Vitalising Energy Transition in Touristic Islands (GENERA)
-
REstore Urban Sealed soil for alternative Ecosystem Services (REUSES)
-
Setting a citizen science innovation programme for exploring innovative funding schemes and boosting recognition (IMPETUS)
Each project brings unique objectives, motivations, and areas of expertise, fostering collaboration and the exchange of knowledge. Together, the programme aims to drive innovation, build synergies, and tackle shared urban challenges.
Main lessons learnt:
-
Reaching out to the participants of the City-to-City Twinning Programme proved to be a successful recruitment strategy
-
Compared to the City-to-City Twinning Programme, this selection required more attention in explaining to the applicants the potential benefits in joining the programme
-
For a European-funded project, it is important to go beyond the EU and reach out to actors and partners operating in other contexts, whether through own funds or through national/regional funding schemes, in order to access more diverse and potentially innovative ideas
